Thank you for joining us for the 2010 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Celebration.  Here is an overview of the events that took place at the 2010 event.

The Seattle Center Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Celebration celebrates the dream of Dr. King by promoting the principles of peace, unity and equality, providing an opportunity for Seattle citizens to remember the dream and vision of MLK, and honoring citizens who are energizing the MLK dream in their communities. Join us for a full afternoon of awards, activities and entertainment in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Re-Envision the Dream: CD Forum Revolutionary Forum & Legacy of Leadership Youth Art exhibits are located in the Harrison Street Gallery on the 3rd floor of the Center House.


 
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Award recognizes and celebrates outstanding young people and youth organizations that promote community, peace, leadership, justice and civil rights in the spirit of the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This year Seattle Center invited the Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative to be a partner in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Awards. Through this partnership the MLK Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Awards were created to recognize the efforts of youth and youth-serving organizations to reduce and prevent youth violence in Seattle.  For more information about the Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative, go to  http://youthinitiative.seattle.gov/.

Revolutionary Forum is a vehicle for artists to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Created by the Central District Forum for Arts & Ideas, Revolutionary Forum will present artists of every discipline showcasing work that reflects the revolutionary life and words of Dr. King. CD Forum is proud to welcome artists in joining Seattle Center to “Re-Envision the Dream.”

The Legacy of Leadership Youth Arts exhibit is the result of visual and performance art submissions by young people from schools and youth organizations throughout the metropolitan area who were invited to “Re-Envision the Dream.”
