Youth Lanterns
Solar panel lanterns created by Carl Smool with Coyote Central

Artist Carl Smool led Coyote Central youth in creating a series of giant lanterns. The youth built narrative sculptural forms from reed and bamboo, attached LED lights, and covered the structures with China silk and Japanese Tengucho paper. Each lantern was then embellished to elaborate on the youths’ vision for the planet’s next fifty years.
These lanterns will illuminate the walkway that parallels the International Fountain.
