Straw Garden
An exploration by Stacy Levy of land-water connections

Straw Garden: from Wattle to Watershed is part of the Broad Street Green—Green Infrastructure Project.
The project – a formal garden made up of seeded and planted tightly wrapped straw and coir cylinders and mats – addresses protection of the water quality of local waterways and is intended to raise public awareness of environmental stewardship, especially as it connects to Seattle Public Utilities’ (SPU) work. The living sculpture will change throughout Seattle Center's anniversary celebration, morphing from formal gardenesque shapes into naturalistic patterns that resemble water as it moves across the landscape.
